I told you I was going to be organised this year, only the second week in January and I’ve already got a video on the best beauty and skincare discoveries from 2016. Don’t fancy reading the blog post? Click here to watch the video on youtube!

Skincare discoveries

La Roche Posay – Serozinc

A toner that really does work for me! If you have oily or spot prone skin (or both, if you’re like me  *SOBS*), then this may also work for you. It helps to mattify the skin, seems to reduce redness and blemishes. I’ve repurchased this over 6 times, as you can see from the below picture I seem to enjoy hoarding them too, haha!

ALSO, Escentual has a 1/3 off all La Roche Posay products!

Garnier micellar cleansing water

A great (and pretty gentle) way to remove makeup in the evening, leaves your face feeling fresh and does a good job of taking off your makeup (even waterproof mascara!). The Garnier micellar water may be a hyped product, but it certainly lives up to the hype, thank you Garnier.

Egyptian Magic

One word, multipurpose! I have fallen in love with Egyptian Magic and did mention it a while back, when I talked about how I use it as a post shave balm. But that’s not the only way I use it, I genuinely think I need to dedicate a full blog post on it, but I do explain all the ways I use it in my video.

Rodial super acid sleep serum and dragons blood hyaluronic mask

I love Rodial as a brand and have pretty much fallen in love with every product I’ve tried from them (all within 2016). Specifically the Rodial super acid sleep serum, it really does work and although I’m hesitant to say it, it is worth £78. This is probably the first skincare product that I’ve noticed a big difference, especially once I’d run out! Not only does it feel cooling when applied, it calmed my breakouts, reduced redness and honestly just made my skin look really good.

Makeup discoveries

Bourjois healthy mix serum gel foundation

An affordable foundation which provides a medium coverage, that lasts! I like the gel texture, how it applies and that it can be mattified (without looking cakey) or left dewy. It covers my imperfections and I really like the smell too. Also the Bourjois healthy mix foundation only costs around £8 which is ideal for daily use.

Soap & Glory – One heck of a blot powder and Archery brow pencil

A translucent powder which is both value for money and mattifies without looking cakey. It absorbs oil, sets makeup in place and doesn’t leave any trace of powder when blended. I’ve declared my love for Archery before, so if you fancy reading all about my love for Soap and Glory click here.

Urban decay all nighter setting spray

The Urban Decay all nighter setting spray is pure magic. Urban decay says it will keep your makeup in place all day/night and yes, I can confirm this is true. Sworn by many beauty gurus, this product lives up to the hype and even though  don’t use it everyday, it keeps my makeup in place and genuinely don’t know how I lived without it!

Best beauty & skincare discoveries from 2016 too faced chocolate bar palette hour glass surreal pallete

Laura Mercier loose setting powder

A majorly hyped product by the beauty gurus, at first I didn’t really understand the hype. I use this under my eyes to set my concealer in place and it doesn’t seem to crease for a good 4 hours. It doesn’t leave a white cast and does a good job of setting makeup in place.

Too Faced chocolate bar eyeshadow palette

Honestly cannot rave enough about the chocolate bar palette. All eyeshadows are wearable, have great pigment and extremely blendable. My favourite shades are salted caramel, marzipan and creme brule. I love the shimmer shades the best as these are extremely buttery with great colour payoff! I need all the Too Faced palettes in 2017.

Hourglass ambient surreal palette

The Hourglass surreal palette was an impulse purchase off SpaceNK and has been a constant feature in my makeup stash. There isn’t one shade that I can’t use and think it’s perfect for pale skin. The formula of these is quite dry and a little bit powdery but that does seem to make them bailable in coverage. The only annoying thing about this palette is that the pans are quite close together meaning that excess powder can mix together. If you want a full review on this, let me know!

Rodial instaglam contour powder

Finally this product is getting the recognition it deserves! Niki tutorials recently raved about the Rodial Instaglam contour powder in one of her videos and it made me feel so happy! I also agree with her that it is perfect for paler complexions. As you’ll see in my video, I’ve nearly run out and will 100% be repurchasing.
