Falling off the Fitness bandwagon – 3 tips on how to get back on track

The response I’ve received from my recent lifestyle posts has been incredible, especially my update on buying a house. I’d love to know if you would like to hear more life updates and also if you’d be interested in reading about my house progress. Particularly, as there’s a lot of work that needs to be done in our (hopefully) new house. I was thinking along the lines of before and after pictures to show you how we’ve transformed our house into a home, cringy but true. Let me know what you think!

As it’s not only been quite stressful at work, but also with all the house stuff, I must admit I’ve fallen off the fitness bandwagon quite a lot. Actually, who am I kidding, I’ve cancelled my gym membership and stopped going all together.. Whoops!

Anyway, instead of starting off this post on a negative spin and wallowing in self pity, (I seem to be pretty good at that, when it comes to fitness). I’ve decided to share how I’ve restarted my fitness routine. Like most bloggers, purchasing new clothes is most probably the easiest way to start. I literally find any excuse to get new clothes! I also love a good opportunity to flat lay new stuff too, I’m such a nightmare, I know.

New Look Gym Wear

All the gear but no idea

Can we just appreciate how gorgeous my new gym wear is? The lovely team at New Look sent over some stuff to try and I have to say I’m in love. If I’m being really honest, I didn’t even realise that New Look did gym stuff. But oh my god, am I glad I do now. Here’s so more close ups of the beautiful New Look Sportswear.

New Look Geo Print Sports Bra Crop Top

Black and Pink zip hem sports gym leggingsew-Look Gym Wear Fitster TopAlso, how hilarious is that Fitster top! I’d never even heard of the term Fitster, but I think I may fit the mold. Buying cool gym kit, eating kale and drinking the latest smoothies, oh the shame! Side note, the quality of the sports wear from New Look is really good, the material is breathable but really supportive at the same time. I especially like the sport bra as it’s not only comfortable but beautiful too.

Moving to the beat

The next thing I do is go on the hunt for a good workout playlist. I’ve got Spotify premium, so it’s pretty easy for me to find something that suits my tastes. I really like HIIT workout playlists and also just discovered the “Spotify Running” area. It provides music designed for your tempo of running – genius.

Research and get motivated

Another thing that really helps me to get motivated is reading articles and watching videos on fitness, particularly “how to” type posts and videos. Grazia has published some great content on Fitness & Health recently. I really liked their how to improve your stamina post, but they also have some great guides on cutting out sugar and improving your health and fitness.

Lastly, I think it’s really important to mention that great results come from hard work and a good diet. Fueling your body with great food and water is so key to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Something I need to overhaul myself! Damn my sweet tooth and obsession with trying new food. Let’s see how long I can keep it up, wish me luck!

What are your tips on keeping motivated? If you do have any other tips, please share them in the comments!

I recently moved country for my year abroad and I’ve found it so hard to get back on the fitness bandwagon! I have now managed to join a gym but have only been once… Clothes are definitely the way forward!! I now have too many fitness clothes to justify buying anymore but that New Look collection is gorgeous! I’d never have thought of going to them for fitness wear so thanks for the heads up 🙂

Didn’t know about that “Spotify running” feature, does it work well? I never run with music because of that tempo mismatch issue.

Just brought my set of weights back to my room, not done any for 6 months…

Some things that helped me back in the days when i did it seriously for a few months.
    – thinking of the endorphin boost at the end as a motivation 🙂
    – doing it as a mean to an and, some training for a meaningful goal like for example a cycling/climbing adventure.
    – having a partner to motivate each other, like for example a coworker that will pull you away from your cubicle and take you to the office gym, even when ‘you don’t feel like it today’ or ‘have that really important presentation to finish”, or ‘but i’m sic, that’s true!’…

    Nice blog!

I’ve only used Spotify Running a couple of times, a while back, but it seemed to be a good feature. You should try it and let me know how you get on?
Have a lovely weekend and a fab Christmas & New Year!
