If you’ve been reading my blog for a while now, you’ll know anything shiny (particularly of the rose gold variety), is always on my wishlist. As always, I found myself on another beauty website, this time being TAM beauty, and splurged on a few items including the Makeup Revolution Precision oval brushes contour set. So thought I would post my review on the blog, as I think these are going to be popular in the beauty community.
Rose gold Makeup Revolution oval brushes
The oval brush is pretty new to the beauty scene, at least for people who don’t have £100 to spend on said brushes. Artis have been around for a while and I believe, created the oval brush. A single Artis brush can set you back anything from £60 – £40. Obviously, in true Makeup Revolution form, they have come out with some amazing dupes which, in my opinion, look even better than the original Artis brushes. Lightweight and rose gold, this brushes are a dream to look at. They are also a fraction of the price at £19.99 for the entire contour set!
Made with extremely fine synthetic hairs, these brushes are surprisingly soft to touch. They make easy work of blending out liquid foundation and cream products. I’ve not tried with powder as I’d prefer to use a normal fluffy brush, for some reason I feel weird using these with powder. The Makeup Rev oval brushes are great at buffing product into the skin and although you do need to work the product into the skin (otherwise it can be a little streaky), I really like the flawless finish the oval brushes provide.
I picked up the 3 piece contour set, which contains brushes that are good for contouring. I actually think these are multi-purpose, so carry on reading to hear why. The Pro Precision oval brushes contour set contains 3 brushes;
Pro Precision Brush Oval Face
This brush is great at blending foundation or working in large areas of product. The brush handle is quite flexible which helps to really work the product in the shape of your face providing the most flexible movement for flawless application. Makeup revolution suggest that it is perfect for blending out contour, bronzer, blusher or finishing powder but I believe it’s too big to blend out contour and better for applying foundation and finishing powder.
Pro Precision Brush Oval Cheek
The oval cheek is good at sculpting out your cheek and applying both bronzer, contour and cream blusher. I think this is quite good at blending out your contour but also great at applying and blending concealer, particularly underneath your eyes.
Pro Precision Brush Oval Shape
The oval shape brush is best at defining your contour and highlight but also great at blending out too. This is also small enough to be able to contour your nose which I really like.
I would recommend these if you like to apply cream contour, I believe these brushes are supposed to be used for cream over powder but Makeup Revolution suggest you can use them for both. I like the oval check and shape brushes the most out of the set, particularly to define a cream contour. I don’t think these are a necessity to a makeup stash, especially if you’re wanting something to apply foundation, but if you’re looking to increase your makeup brush collection and like doing a cream contour on a regular basis, then I would recommend these.
Have you tried any oval brushes before? Do you like the look of these?
