Max Factor Lipfinity Review

So I decided to create this review due to a work colleague recommending Max Factor Lipfinity – a “24 hour” lipstain. I haven’t really used any long wear lip stains/lip sticks before, so I don’t really have anything to compare it to. Although, from reading a lot of blogs (and I really do read a lot of blogs), I know that quite a few products on the market are a little flaky and not actually that long lasting.

The Lipfinity “24 hour” range comes in a variety of shades, you can view the 25 shades here. The colour range isn’t at all extensive, but the shop assistant said they are hopefully increasing this.

Max Factor claims:

HOT, MUST-HAVE SHADES THAT LAST ALL DAY. MAKE A STATEMENT WITH RICH COLOUR  THAT STAYS PUT FOR UP TO 24 HOURS.

I purchased the colour 006 Always Delicate; a coral(ish) nude – perfect for the summer. There are a few other shades that I also loved; 108 Frivolous, 125 So Glamorous and 330 Essential Burgundy. I picked it up from Boots  at £10.99 – not cheap but also not as expensive as other drugstore brands.

Lipfinity Lipstick

The product contains a 2.3ml lip stain (base coat/step 1) and a 1.9g moisturising stick (top coat/step 2). The packaging provides a two step (very easy) process:

Step 1 – Firstly you need to ensure your lips are clean, then apply the colour lipgloss. Once the colour is applied make sure you keep your lips apart until they are dry (hence the funny pose in the below picture). You can tell they’re dry by the matte look.

Step 2 – You then need to apply the clear top coat, this helps to moisturise your lips and provides a nice shine.

Steps-for-Lipfinity

After around 9/10 hours, which included shopping and dinner, I have to say I’m very surprised by how much staying power this lipstain actually has. I only applied the top coat twice throughout the day, which really does prove how good this product is.

After-Lipfinity

 What I liked
– Staying power
– The colour
– Value for money
– Good if you’re lazy with reapplying lipstick

What I disliked
– Hard to remove and did leave my lips a little dry after use (nothing that some lip balm couldn’t fix)
– When wearing the product, my lips sometimes felt quite dry and little flakes appeared towards the end (although I believe this was due to limited use of the top coat)

Lastly, it’s quite funny that Max Factor claims that the product has staying power for 24 hours,  who actually wears lipstick for 24 hours?! Anyway, have you used Lipfinity before? What are your thoughts? Does anyone have similar product suggestions?

    Hello 🙂
I’m just wondering if the top coat works with other lipsticks not just the lipfinity lipstain? If not, do you know of any other product that you can purchase as a top coat for any lipstick?

      Hey!
Thanks for your comment – I’m not sure if it works with other lipsticks! I’ll try it this week and get back to you, but I can’t imagine that it does!

        Sam

Did you try the top coat with ordinary
Lipstick? If so, how did it work out?

Hey Lindsey, Thanks for your comment.. I have tried it but it doesn’t work properly!
The lipstick goes quite drying, so I think the top coat is more of a moisture stick rather than something to keep your lipstick on for longer.
          Hope that makes sense!

Hi! I am a huge fan of matte lipsticks so I wanted to know if I can apply only the lipgloss.

How long did you find it took to dry before applying the top coat? X

This is a massively old post, but if I remember correctly, probably took less than a minute then apply the top coat. Hope it helps! x
