I can’t believe it’s been over a month since my birthday. If a girl can’t treat herself on her birthday, then I don’t know when she can! Having said that, I literally treat myself at every opportunity. You’ll regularly find me sat scrolling through ASOS/*insert online shop here* shouting “treat yo self“. Yes, I know I have problems. Anyway, back to what you came here for, a review of some new beauty picks, a collective haul over the past couple of weeks.
A mini Sephora Haul
I hate to admit this, but last month was the FIRST time I’d purchased something off Sephora. Yes I know, I’m not a true beauty blogger, but hear me out! The main reason is because my American beauty wishlist is growing all the time and Sephora makes it far too easy to turn said wishlist into reality. Reason I caved was because I needed to get Amy a birthday present and Sephora was the only place where the Tarte Tartlette in Bloom Palette was in stock. Watch what Amy has to say here.

I also convinced myself if I was paying for shipping, it would be rude not to get a little treat for myself too. I’ve had my eye on the Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipsticks for ages and decided to take the plunge after seeing so many rave reviews. I’ve wanted the ABH Dusty Rose shade for ages, but it always seems to be out of stock. A muted rose/mauve shade, this liquid lipstick is creamy and super matte. The longevity of the Anastasia Beverly Hills lipsticks are ok, they aren’t as good as the Kylie liquid lipsticks, but last around 5 hours. It important to note that if you consume food/particularly oily products, the liquid lipstick can come away and will require some touching up. They are also quite drying, so if you have dry lips then this may not be for you. Having said that, the shade is beautiful and would suit most skin tones, especially my pale gals. There’s a swatch below of ABH Dusty rose, the first one on the left side.
With the Sephora order, I was able to pick 3 samples; I managed to get my hands on the Kat Von lock-it hydrating primer and foundation, Belief aqua bomb sample and a Marc Jacobs birthday present (which included a mini lipstick and eyeliner). The Marc Jacob “Le Marc” lip cream in “Kiss Kiss bang bang”, is extremely creamy, hydrating and a beautiful pink/dusty rose shade. I REALLY want to try more of these, the lip creams are a dream and I need to expand my collection immediately.
On one of my weekly visits to Boots (I wish I was joking), I randomly picked up a Maybelline vivid matte liquid lipstick and have to say I’m a little disappointed. I was expecting something very matte but this is more of a velvet texture which doesn’t dry down very well, it’s quite thick in consistency. The pigmentation is nice and the shade range is ok too but this didn’t blow me away. For reference, it’s the middle one in the swatches below.
For the eyes and brows
I’m forever expanding my mac pigment family and thought I would add Mac melon to the collection. It’s a beautiful peachy gold loose pigment which has amazing colour pay off. When this is applied wet, it’s like a rose gold/peach foil and has amazing coverage. This is perfect lid colour for a brown/gold smokey eye, would highly recommend!
I also added another Kiko eyeshadow stick to my collection, this ivory/gold cream eyeshadow is great as a base. I love the Kiko eyeshadow sticks, they’re super pigmented, long wearing and very blendable. The Kiko eyeshadow sticks are also value for money, as they only cost around £6. Having said that my all time favourite cream eyeshadow stick has to be the Bobbi brown cream shadow, which appeared in my July favourites.
Lots of brands have increase their brow ranges recently and Maybelline jumped on the brow bandwagon by releasing a whole new range of products. I picked up Maybelleine eye brow satin in medium brown (as they didn’t have dark blonde available). I was actually quite surprised by this product and really does provide natural looking fuller brows. Unfortunately, I picked up the wrong colour so it’s a little dark for me but would recommend if you have sparse brows and are looking for a cheaper alternative. The eye brow satin has two ends, the normal eyebrow pencil and a doe foot applicator which is loaded with product to help blend and provide fuller brows!
Are there any new products you’ve loved recently that I should try? SEND THEM MY WAY.
